Welcome

Welcome to Issue 2  of The Burra Call for  season 2004/05. Its been a busy time around the club the last couple of months with  preparation for the season ahead in full swing. Activities undertaken include fixing up the rooms, repairing the nets, new equipment purchases, recruitment, organising teams, social event planning and many others. Everyone has been working hard to ensure we have not only a successful but enjoyable season 2004/2005.

Cricket Victoria has introduced a new web portal for clubs this year so don’t be surprised when you log on and see many changes. It is still in development stages at the moment so it’s a bit rough. We are hoping that soon we will have all our data back in a nice new clean environment. Don’t forget to check out the website at :

The Burra Call

SKYE CRICKET CLUB                                          September 2004

Winners are Grinners

During the off-season the Skye C.C has been represented in an Indoor cricket comp for Outdoor clubs at the Cranbourne sports centre. The V.B challenge as it's called has provided us a huge incentive to win as the winning club recieves 1000 cans of V.B to be shared between players and club. Skye was one of eight clubs involved and finished in third position to make it into the finals. After an easy cruise through the semi final we earnt the chance to play in the final. While the boys will tell you there was never any doubt of the result, the final was a hard fought battle with Skye emerging victorious by a hand full of runs. It's been 20 good weeks for everyone involved and they earnt the win and a drink. The team has been,  Jay, Twig, Fraar, Smally, Wardy, Dixy, Nesty, Chris and fill-in's such as Ad's, Pone's, Leigh plus a few other good sports. Thanks must also go to our two beautiful cheerleaders Jones'y and Birdy and all our other supporters.

The Grand Final winners (left to right) Back row: Craig Dicks, Jamie Smith, Chris Smith, Robert Wilson. Front row: Glenn Ward, Jay Barfoot, Leigh Smith, Chris Hauselberger
